Privacy and security

In plain words. Last updated 4 November 2026.

What Pinned is

Pinned is a family planner with a money forecast. You type in your balances, bills and income, and it works out what is safe to spend. It does not connect to your bank and it never holds your money.

What we keep

We do not collect your bank logins or card numbers. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use a cookie only to keep you signed in. We never sell your data or use it to show you ads.

Who can see it

Everything you add is private to you until you choose to share it. You can share with your whole family or with a smaller circle, such as just you and your partner. People in your family never see your private accounts, bills or notes. This is enforced in the database itself, not just on the screen.

We do not look at your household’s data. The people who run Pinned can reach the database in order to keep the service working, and only use that to fix a problem you have asked us about.

Photos

Photos you add (a family photo, profile pictures, pins, dinners, goals) are stored privately for your family only. There are no public links: someone outside your family who finds a photo’s address still cannot open it.

If you choose to scan a letter or bill, that one photo is sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model, to read the dates in it. Pinned does not keep the photo. Nothing else you add is ever sent to an AI.

The services we use

Each of them handles your data only to provide that service for us.

Emails

We send sign-in codes, invites, and the morning summary you can switch off on your Account page. We send no marketing. Your calendar link, if you make one, is a secret address: anyone who has it can see the dates it shows, so treat it like a password. You can replace it or turn it off at any time.

How it is kept safe

Your choices

Not financial advice

Pinned gives estimates from the numbers you enter. It is a planning aid, not financial advice, and it is only as accurate as what you tell it.
